Great to see others taking an interest. Thanks for your work, Larry. Would love to see it in person sometime.

As for me, I did a complete research paper on it during my master's program. (To view paper, visit here: http://www.facebook.com/notes/paul-peterson/archive-20090422-vincent-j-burnelli/10150548956276165)

Judging from what we're finding out about what's been happening politically since 1913, the paper's conclusions do not seem very far-fetched anymore.

Being an educated business manager and aviation professional (Master's Aviation Science, 2010), who is not working in his field right now, I'd like to join a team that seeks to bring the Burnelli designs to market, up to and including an adjunct airline using these designs exclusively. In fact, it would be a great life's work to help revolutionize the airline industry with it. Hopefully, Patrick Lear can help assemble such a team.

For all Burnelli supporters, I just received a hopeful message from the New England Air Museum yesterday.

“Upon completion of the multi-year restoration of our Douglas A-26 Invader, anticipated for mid-2012, the Burnelli CBY will be moved into our restoration facility for its restoration.” Michael P. Speciale, NEAM. (Dec 5, 2011)

After so many years in the New England winters, the CBY-3 will finally be recognized for the historic, aviation gem that it is. This is a long awaited, hopeful message.

There are so many, very good alternatives for todays airplanes. Most of them invented a long time ago allready.

Strangely, even when you study these designs and proof that there is no snag somewhere, they doesnt seem to be able to compete with the conventional aircraft.

Lifting bodies are interesting for a few other reasons too: In case of safety: the low aspec ratio makes it more stall and spin resistant, and it stays better controlable at lower speeds.

While we believe that showing a new design would be very appealing, we don't believe the situation is as clear-cut as you seem to make it. There are people of all ages with imaginations. There are also people of all ages without imagination. We have recently had several students express interest in Burnelli and have contacted us. They obviously can see the potential. As you state, others probably don't. We will add your suggestion to our list and act upon it when we are able. Do you know any artists who might be willing to help for a nominal fee?

However, it is true that showing a new design would be very appealing. The time will come when we are able to do so. Are you prepared to

Thanks for the kuddos! We too had heard that Mr. Zavala was writing a book but he has consistently pushed back the publication date so don't hold your breath. Maybe someone else will beat him to it!?

This is a great website. I am curious, though, is anybody writing a book about Mr. Burnelli and his amazing aircraft. I'd read on http://www.geocities.com/equipmentshop/nexthercules.htm that Mr. Ernest Zavala was writing about Burnelli aircraft but I have been unable to find any information. Keep up the good work.

You ask, "How do we get more coverage about this safer, more efficient design in the media? Would you like to see more reports in the news?"

The design idea needs to be sold to the younger generation.
Relying on old photos and descriptions, hoping that people will see for themselves how good it could be, has proven to be getting nowhere.

I'm an old Burnelli convert from way back, but I don't see any new sales pitch that would grab the imagination of anyone younger than around 50 years of age.

To get the show back on the road, the whole idea needs to be completely revamped and brought up to date.
Even Vincent's last concept design, the GB-888 is now old hat, especially as far as the younger generation is concerned.
